No. 01 · For the record Rachel Hurley for Tennessee’s 5th Memphis · Dem. Primary · Aug 2026

Privacy policy · Effective July 3, 2026

What we collect, what we do with it, and what we’ll never do with it.

This policy covers rachelfortn.com and the Rachel Hurley for Tennessee campaign, including our text message program. Plain language, no legal fog. If anything here is unclear, email hello@rachelfortn.com and a person will answer you.

What we collect

If you sign up to volunteer, donate, join the email list, or contact us, we collect what you give us - typically your name, email address, phone number, and zip code. Donations are processed by ActBlue, which has its own privacy policy and handles your payment information; we never see or store your card number.

Like most campaigns, we also use publicly available voter file data - names, addresses, phone numbers, and voting history (whether you voted, never how) - provided under state law for political outreach.

The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and doesn’t track individuals. During the campaign the site also runs the Meta pixel - a small Facebook tracker that tells us when someone visits, so our ads reach people who’ve already shown interest instead of strangers. I’ve written plenty about surveillance tech, so I’ll be straight with you: I don’t love this tool, nearly every campaign uses it, and it comes off the site after the election. If you don’t want it watching you here, an ad blocker stops it cold, and you can limit what Facebook does with the data at facebook.com/adpreferences.

What we do with it

We use this information to run the campaign: answering your messages, coordinating volunteers, sending campaign updates by email or text, complying with federal election law, and reaching voters in Tennessee’s 5th District about the election.

Federal law requires us to collect and report certain information about donors (name, address, occupation, and employer for contributions over $200) to the Federal Election Commission, where it becomes public record. That’s the law, not our choice.

What we will never do

We will not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. No text message opt-in data or phone numbers will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

We share data only with the service providers who make the campaign run (email, texting, donation processing, web hosting), and only so they can do that work for us - never for their own use.

Text messages

Our text message program is peer-to-peer - a real person sends each message. Every first message tells you who we are and how to stop hearing from us. Reply STOP at any time to opt out and we’ll suppress your number from all future sends. Reply HELP or email hello@rachelfortn.com for help. Full terms are at rachelfortn.com/sms-terms.html.

Your choices

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Every text program supports STOP. If you want to know what information we have about you, want it corrected, or want it deleted (where the law allows - FEC records we’re required to keep are out of our hands), email hello@rachelfortn.com.

Data security and retention

We use reputable providers with standard security practices, limit access to people working on the campaign, and keep data only as long as the campaign needs it or the law requires.

Children

This site and our messaging programs are not directed at anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from minors.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top.
